The British label Jorum Studio unveils a new limited-edition unisex creation with “Boswellia Scotia” in which hojari frankincense, pink pepper and saffron come together.
Created by perfumer Euan McCall, “Boswellia Scotia” is a tribute to the green Hojari frankincense, which comes into its own in this composition in its pure form. Instead of the traditional, sacred incense aroma, the fragrance is intended to exude a natural, gentle freshness that captures the vastness and tranquillity of the Scottish landscape while conveying a subtle warmth.

McCall’s work also draws on Scotland’s botanical history: Scottish botanist William Roxburgh, known as the “founding father of Indian botany”, named the frankincense plant after his friend Dr. John Boswell. This connection between the Scottish Highlands and the exotic flora of India has inspired McCall since his childhood and shapes the essence of this fragrance.
As fall approaches, many reach for their heaviest perfumes. Personally, I like to save the denser profiles for the deep winter months, which feel like an eternity here in Scotland.

When the leaves turn golden, I crave something atmospheric to complement the crisp air – with enough richness to inspire snuggling. That’s why I reach for scents that revolve around incense. I collect incense tears and savor their inherent billowing freshness, marveling at the subtle but perceptible differences between the qualities.–
“Boswellia Scotia” is a personal formula that I use in the fall here in crisp Edinburgh. It seeks to capture the ethereal facet of the finest Hojari frankincense in all its weightless glory and present it as purely as possible.Euan McCall
The composition opens with the warm spice of pink pepper and saffron, which lead the fragrance into a woody-aromatic depth, enhanced by the notes of hemlock and cypriol. Creamy Mysore sandalwood provides a velvety warmth that harmonizes with the earthy dryness of patchouli. Precious Omani frankincense and frankincense absolute form the heart of the fragrance and lend it a balsamic, spicy intensity, rounded off by the resinous notes of cistus and fir balsam.
“Boswellia Scotia” is limited to 597 bottles and is part of the “Time Collection”, which also includes “Opaline”, “Zhaar” and “Monolith”.
