It was one of many nods made to Princess Diana on Remembrance Day.

This weekend, Kate Middleton made her triumphant return to royal duty after completing chemotherapy with two major events for Remembrance Day. And while she honored fallen soldiers in the U.K. and Commonwealth with her red poppy pin, the rest of her accessories were a tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana—including her sapphire engagement, which she hasn’t worn publicly for nearly a year.

Middleton’s appearances have been far and few between amid her cancer battle, and on the rare occasion that she did step out, the Princess of Wales noticeably swapped her engagement ring for an eternity band in its place. But on Saturday (and again on Sunday), Middleton brought back the iconic ring for the first time since Christmas 2023 along with a few other pieces from Diana’s jewelry box.

First, the royal attended the Festival of Remembrance with her sapphire and diamond ring on full display, as well as a pair of Bahrain pearl drop earrings and matching pendant necklace that once belonged to Princess Diana. Meanwhile, for Remembrance Sunday the next day, Middleton paid tribute to the late monarch once more with the same jewelry and her retro black Catherine Walker coat dress—one of Diana’s favorite designers.

Diana wasn’t only remembered through Kate’s style, but also musically at Royal Albert Hall. During the concert portion of the Festival of Remembrance, Middleton and her husband, Prince William, got visibly emotional as the orchestra began playing “Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer”–a hymn that was originally played at Princess Diana’s funeral and has become a symbolic way for her sons to remember their mother, as both played the song at on their wedding days.
