Part of the fun of being a teenager is raiding your mom’s closet for vintage finds. And if your mom happens to be an award-winning actress — well, even better. Of those lucky few is Busy Philipps’s 15-year-old daughter Birdie Silverstein, who repurposed one of her mom’s old red carpet dresses for a night out.
This week, the mother-daughter duo and Philipps's 10-year-old, Cricket Pearl, attended an Olivia Rodrigo concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. For the occasion, Birdie wore a red, crushed velvet Betsey Johnson dress with sheer black lace detailing that her mom first debuted at The Green Mile premiere (alongside her then-boyfriend Colin Hanks!) back in 1999.
Comparing their looks side-by-side on Instagram, Philipps wrote in the caption: "💜We love Olivia Rodrigo so much💜it was beyond special to get to see her at MSG last night 😭 Such an incredible rock show! I feel so lucky I get to be the mom of these kids💕. Also- please enjoy the side by side of me at age 19 and birdie last night in the same dress- YES ITS TRUE WE LOOK V SIMILAR 😭💜❤️( dress is @betseyjohnson from the 90s!)."

For her part, Philipps styled the midi-length dress with a dark red lip, delicate gold jewelry, and black strappy sandals, while Birdie kept her glam natural and added a heart pendant necklace.
Philipps shares daughters Birdie and Cricket with her ex-husband Marc Silverstein, whom she married in 2007. The two announced their separation in 2022, but their relationship is still amicable for their children's sake.
“I think that we just both understood, fundamentally, that we made a promise to each other and to our kids,” she previously shared with Entertainment Tonight in February, adding that while “one part of the promise is different,” the part about “raising our kids together” hasn’t changed.
"Being able to communicate is important and necessary," she continued. "And we weren't going to let any hurt feelings on our side affect how we can show up for what is essentially still a family."
