As a fashion editor who almost exclusively shops sales, Presidents’ Day weekend is a big deal to me because nearly all of my favorite brands are majorly discounted. Madewell and Coach Outlet both launched double-discount sales, with deals on trending bags, denim, and transitional staples. J.Crew slashed prices on its just-dropped early-spring arrivals, and you can save on everything from rich-looking layers to celebrity worn sneakers at Nordstrom, Zara, and Gap.

Given how many good Presidents’ Day sales are already live ahead of the weekend, I’m taking this opportunity to do a major early spring shopping haul, with savings up to 77 percent off.

For major denim discounts, you’ll want to head to Gap, where jeans are up to 60 percent off. That includes trending flares (they’re the leg-lengthening silhouette every petite girl needs), sweatpant-like jeans, classic straight legs, and a $27 slim-fitting style. Nordstrom has all things fashion and beauty on sale, from Autry’s cool-girl sneakers (the brand Katie Holmes wears on repeat) to an LED face mask designed to zap wrinkles. I’m looking for comfortable transitional styles to take me from winter to spring, so I’m eyeing these cargo joggers and Eileen Fisher’s buttery soft cotton sweater. Not only has J.Crew marked down its sale styles by an extra 50 percent with the code SHOPNOW, but the brand slashed prices on its just-dropped early spring styles. There’s so much I want to grab, but the items I keep coming back to include the $27 slip skirt that’s loved by more than 850 shoppers, this sweater lady jacket that’s finished with a cool fringe trim, and this classic button-down shirt with the perfect oversized fit. Zara is where I’m going for affordable shoes and layering pieces that look much more expensive than they are. These studded leather (yes, leather!) ballet flats are now just $50, as is this faux fur topper with giant gold flower buttons. Spanx has marked down a handful of its best sellers ahead of the long weekend, including these faux leather leggings and the comfy AirEssentials half-zip Oprah has called her “favorite.” InStyle editors swear by the brand’s butt-lifting jeans—this pair is 40 percent off—but given how popular non-jeans are this season, I’m considering grabbing these outfit-elevating pull-on trousers.
