With the new collection “The Essences”, Amouage unveils three intensely woody unisex fragrances inspired by the deep meaning of time and its traces.
An olfactory expression of the value of time. Made using a revolutionary process: a double infusion with sandalwood and handcrafted oak barrels.

The collection includes three fragrances – “Lustre” “Outlands” and “Reasons” – each embodying different facets of the interplay between time, light and memory. Each composition contains 30% pure perfume oils and has been aged for six months in sandalwood shavings and oak barrels – a process designed to give the fragrances an extraordinary richness and complexity.
The new perfumes also represent a milestone in the packaging history of Amouage: For the first time in 15 years, a new flacon design has been introduced. The refillable glass flacons with their organic, flowing shapes combine elements of traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
Lustre – The radiance of the moment
A light in the darkness. The shimmer of a polished surface. Iridescent luminosity. Lustre reflects, exudes and reveres the light and is an unashamedly poetic olfactory expression of the desire to extend the present to the end of time.

The first fragrance in the new range, “Lustre”, is a woody-floral work by Julien Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain. To capture the brilliance of the present olfactorily, the spicy freshness of cardamom blends with the velvety and powdery notes of iris in the top note. The heart brings out woody and earthy tones of patchouli, sandalwood and cedar, which lend the composition a warm depth. The fragrance is rounded off with a rich blend of resins and sweet accords. Ambergris, benzoin, cypriol, labdanum, myrrh and styrax provide a balsamic-resinous warmth, paired with the creamy-sweet notes of tonka bean and vanilla.

The limits of imagination. Unexplored secrets. A dance with the unknown. Outlands is as indescribable as it is familiar, using extraordinary contrasts between light and shadow to capture the ever-changing inevitability of the future.

Created by perfumer Cécile Zarokian, the woody-ambery composition “Outlands” plays with contrasts to symbolize the unpredictability of the future. The top note opens with bergamot and lemon, underscored by spicy and resinous accents of cardamom, Szechuan pepper, incense and elemi resin. At the heart, a spicy-herbal combination of aniseed, coriander, caraway and davana blends with sensual floral notes of rose, rose geranium and orange blossom. Saffron and patchouli lend the heart note an earthy depth that continues in the base note. The warm resins of ambergris, amber, benzoin and labdanum dominate here, accompanied by nuances of birch, oud and incense. The whole is rounded off by the sweetness of vanilla and maltol.

Cause and effect. Echoes of thought. A sequence of events. With enormous complexity and seriousness, Reasons conveys the idea that while the past may be gone, its effects live on forever, sustaining the present while giving it meaning, depth and value.

The third and final fragrance in the collection pays homage to the enduring, deep traces of the past. Created by Bertrand Duchaufour, “Reasons” opens with a slightly sweet hazelnut accord, accompanied by spicy cardamom, Peruvian pepper tree and warm cinnamon. At the heart, the herbaceous and slightly fruity facets of davana blend with the earthy, spicy accents of patchouli and pine, enriched with sensual notes of amber, cashmeran and cypriol. An earthy accord of palo santo and oakmoss provides a powerful finish, combined with resinous tones of musk, benzoin, myrrh and cistus as well as woody accents of cedar, vetiver and sandalwood.
The new fragrances are available in a bottle size of 100 ml.
