With “Olfactory Series 1”, the German fashion label Jil Sander unveils its first luxury perfume collection, consisting of six minimalist unisex fragrances.
As an olfactory translation of Jil Sander’s design codes, Olfactory Series 1 focuses on individuality. It creates a balance between intimacy and presence, femininity and masculinity, day and night, humanity, nature and technology. With awareness and care, with a sheer dedication to quality and innovation.

The resulting formulas are characterized by the radical olfactory signature of aldehydes – sparks of light that flash through the fragrances, enhancing the main notes and harmonies of the main ingredients, giving each natural material the right attention and new expressive possibilities.Jil Sander
Under the creative direction of Lucie and Luke Meier, the “Olfactory Series 1” is designed to express the core values of Jil Sander: Minimalism, craftsmanship, elegance and innovation.
Each of the six unisex compositions – “Smoke”, “Leaf”, “Miel”, “Coffea”, “Earth” and “Black Tea” – is based on just three natural ingredients, combined with synthetic aldehyde molecules, recycled alcohol and water. The aim is to achieve exceptional olfactory clarity and expressiveness.
Smoke – A play of light and shadow
An interplay of shadow and light, warmth and cold, refined by the smell of fresh laundry, infused with oud wood facets.
The scent of clothes drying near a fireplace.
Jil Sander Smoke is as dry as it is enveloping, masculine as it is feminine, mysterious as it is clear.Jil Sander
Composed by perfumer Bérénice Watteau, “Smoke” combines balsamic elemi resin with the warm, woody nuances of cedarwood. In the base note, Spanish juniper provides a spicy, aromatic depth and rounds off the creation;
Leaf – Green freshness
Leaf is a cloud of green: fresh, unexpected, electrifying.
The memory of a freshly picked Black Crimean tomato, fruits and leaves, in a Mediterranean garden.
Thanks to the aldehydes, the combination of upcycled key lime, CO₂-extracted cardamom and the hint of Indian corn mint has a citrusy, tangerine-like sparkle.Jil Sander
Created by Julie Massé, “Leaf” unfolds with a refreshing, tangy top note of real lime. In the heart note, cardamom CO2 provides a spicy warmth, while corn mint gives the composition a green character
Miel – A spicy fusion of wood and flowers
Woody, spicy, magnetic.
Jil Sander Miel is the smell of home, when everything is peaceful and clear. When we feel safe and strong and we can use our freedom to change.Jil Sander
“Miel”, developed by Mathilde Bijaoui, opens with the floral freshness of CO₂-extracted jasmine grandiflorum, which combines with a warm cedarwood heart. The composition is rounded off with an earthy, slightly smoky base of Madagascan vetiver, which provides stability and depth.
Coffea – Floral and ambery
Outside, it’s white and quiet. Inside, in a half-timbered room full of people, the morning sunlight and the smell of ground coffee after brewing.
An unusual combination, with small, constant movements that add depth and focus. The imagination is stimulated.Jil Sander
Behind the development of “Coffea” is the master perfumer Paul Guerlain. The fragrance combines the delicate, powdery freshness of iris root with the intense and invigorating aroma of CO₂-extracted coffee. The composition is rounded off with the balsamic, sweetish warmth of El Salvador Peru balsam.
Earth – An interpretation of the classic chypre rose
The smell of rain, small puddles of water, the first memory of a matsutake mushroom, the generosity of the earth.
With its surprising formula that combines the delicate qualities of the two roses, the dense facets of the mushroom and the moist and earthy notes of the patchouli leaves, Jil Sander Earth is a contemporary interpretation of the iconic chypre rose structureJil Sander
For “Earth”, perfumer Julie Massé combined two precious rose notes: French centifolia – known for its delicate, slightly fruity freshness – and Damask rose with its intense, full-bodied floral essence. These floral accents are contrasted in the base by CO₂-extracted patchouli, which gives the fragrance an earthy dimension.
Black Tea – A spicy floral fragrance with a smoky leather note
In this modern, ambery and spicy fragrance made up of unexpected associations, the aldehydes highlight the warmth of osmanthus from China, recycled cinnamon from Sri Lanka and black tea – CO₂ extracted to obtain a pitch as close as possible to its natural note.

The idea was to play with a very deep and intense matter, to travel without moving, to use the ability of our senses to surpass the ordinary and take us to another place.Jil Sander
“Black Tea”, composed by Nathalie Lorson, begins with a warm, spicy top note of Sri Lankan cinnamon. The fruity, floral elegance of Chinese osmanthus unfolds in the heart, rounded off by the smoky, aromatic depth of CO₂-extracted black tea.
Minimalist design with a handcrafted touch
The perfumes are packaged in asymmetrical, refillable glass flacons created in collaboration with the design studio Formafantasma. Bell-shaped aluminum caps protect the fragrances from light, while air pockets and other small imperfections give each bottle an individual touch.
Luke Meier, one of the fashion house’s creative directors, describes the design as “emotional and human” – a handcrafted antithesis to the often flawless industrial aesthetic.
The new fragrances are available in 100 ml bottles.
