Ever since the news broke of Selena Gomez’s engagement to Benny Blanco, all eyes have been on her massive 8-carat diamond ring, which may or may not contain a sweet hidden meaning. But there’s one other detail that caught our eye this morning as we collectively fawned over the singer’s new bling: her defiantly chill-girl engagement manicure, courtesy of her longtime manicurist Tom Bachik.
For the truly once-in-a-lifetime occasion, Gomez opted for a chic, understated aesthetic, so as not to interfere with the star of the show, a.k.a. that massive marquise diamond. As Bachik shared on his Instagram just yesterday, it’s a layered look consisting of two different Chanel polishes: Le Vernis longwear nail color in Ballerina, and Le Gel Coat longwear top coat. The manicurist first revealed the look when he shared press photos from the brand’s Academy Women’s Luncheon on December 11.
Gomez and Blanco dated for almost exactly one year before announcing their engagement on Instagram with a carousel that the singer captioned “Forever begins now.” They were joined by friends and family for a celebratory night that included Blanco’s parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Raquelle Stevens, Ashley Cook, and Courtney Lopez.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Gomez has turned heads with her approach to nail art. Earlier this year, she put a modern twist on Old Hollywood glam with a bright red manicure at the 2024 SAG Awards. And let’s not forget the $8 polish she chose for a sleek black manicure at the 2024 Golden Globes. No matter the occasion, it seems that Gomez and Bachik always know exactly what needs to happen when it comes to her nails.
