Flower girl meets rocker-chic.
Blake Lively’s method-dressing continues to blossom. The actress has been stepping out to promote her upcoming movie It Ends With Us (which releases in theaters on August 9) in outfits that are perfectly on-brand with her character, flower shop owner Lily Bloom. Lively’s press tour wardrobe has been full of vegetation, bright colors, and sparkles galore. While her latest ensemble has no shortage of florals, she leaned into her thorniness with edgy, controversial touches.
The Gossip Girl alum traded soft, delicate, petal-like fabrics for a black leather set, composed of a cropped biker jacket and a contentious pant style: Bermuda shorts. Lively not only put her stamp of approval on the mom-loved, knee-grazing shorts, but made them look so cool. The rocker-chic pieces were emblazoned with whimsical multi-colored doodles of flowers, trees, and swans which gave it a bright, cheery spin. For an extra sexy touch, Lively wore her jacket unzipped over absolutely nothing, revealing hints of side boob. She brought a little bit more color into her ensemble via strappy black heels decorated with glittery red, blue, pink, and yellow gems, and tied everything together with large diamond stud earrings.
As for glam, Lively opted for rosy eyeshadow, a peachy blush, and a mauve lip, and styled her golden locks in bouncy curls.
These weren't the only leather garments Lively had up her sleeve. She displayed several outfit changes for a day at CBS studios in New York City, including a shiny black pencil skirt decorated with the same fantastical floral embellishment, paired with a sleeveless floral-printed black top, and a smattering of gem-adorned rings. Earlier in the day, Lively channeled Jackie O in a structured sky-blue skirt suit completely covered in little white daisies, paired with baby blue Mary Jane heels, a white flower clutch, and large purple flower earrings.
During her day of engagements, the Blake Brown founder, along with her co-stars Brandon Sklenar, Isabela Ferrer, and Alex Neustaedter, sat down with Extra to discuss the Colleen Hoover adaptation.
"It was really important to me to be able to bring to life a character who was both strong and vulnerable, who was both passionate and passive, who was masculine and feminine, who was fabulous and grounded," Lively explained. "I just feel in love with Lily and I really wanted to tell her story," she continued.
