I was recently having a conversation with someone who said that you’re either a bag girl or a shoe girl and, while I’m not convinced it’s that binary, I do happen to be the latter. After all, shoes are what keep my wardrobe interesting. With no effort, a pair of colorful sneakers or bold heels can make my go-to outfit—a simple pair of jeans and basic white tank top—feel like a well-thought-out look. And there’s one style Hollywood relies on to do just that, and Eva Longoria might have worn the sexiest version of it.
The actress was just spotted in New York City wearing perhaps the most intricate sweater dress I’ve ever seen. The body-con number, which extended past her ankles, had an almost pieced-together look. It was secured around her neck like a choker and tied right at the bust, kind of like if you knotted a cardigan over a tube dress; it was giving DIY in the chicest way. And while I loved the piece, I don’t personally need a sweater dress for summer. What I do need, however, are the shoes she paired with it: metallic silver stilettos.

Longoria’s metallic pumps were eye-catching but not spotlight-stealing. While black heels would have felt too bold next to the cool gray and white too feminine, her silver shoes added to that modern, sexy vibe her dress set without distracting from it. Simply put, it was styling perfection.
Of course, you don’t have to wear a sky-high heel or a dress that futuristic to jump on the trend. Jane Fonda and Katie Holmes have both recently worn it a little more practically, opting for silver flats.
While Longoria’s look proved that the metallic style can complement a dressed-up look, Holmes’s was a shining example of the trend’s ability to elevate. Pairing mirror-like ballet flats with simple linen pants and a white tank top, her otherwise classic and casual summer look felt fresh and cool.
