It's complicated.

The 2025 Grammy Awards may have wrapped on February 2, but the internet is still reeling over Bianca Censori’s red carpet outfit. And now, there’s a possibility that Censori could face charges for showing up nearly nude to the event.

Alongside husband Kanye West, Censori walked the red carpet leading up to the ceremony. She first appeared in an oversized coat before turning away from camera to remove it, first showing her backside in a very sheer nude dress and later turning to the front to place her breasts and genitalia on display.

The 30-year-old completed her look with clear flip-flops, a slicked-back bun, minimalist makeup, and her wedding ring. A second very nude look—a sheer black thong bodysuit—followed later that night at a Grammys after party.

Though Censori’s outfit fell out of dress code for the event, at the moment, no one has pressed charges for her near-nudity. “The Grammys are a private event,” the LAPD told TMZ in a statement on February 4, “and no one from the award show has contacted police with any complaints about how Bianca was dressed.”

While charges could technically still be pressed against Censori for her nude stunt, she currently is not in violation of California’s indecent exposure law, which occurs when a person willfully or lewdly “exposes his person, or the private parts thereof, in any public place, or in any place where there are present other persons to be offended or annoyed.”

Raj Kapoor, the executive producer behind this year’s Grammys, shared insight with People following the incident and said that “artistic black-tie” is the dress code listed for the show’s guests, “but in the music industry, I guess that’s up for interpretation.”

“Obviously there is a dress code for anybody actually performing on the show that we have to adhere to standards and practices," Kapoor continued. "But as far as people attending and nominees attending, that would be something the [Recording] Academy [presents the Grammys] would have to answer.”

According to a 2013 document obtained by Deadline, Censori’s outfit did violate some of the Grammy’s most critical dress code rules. “Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic,” an email from CBS read. “Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure.”
