Julia Roberts is a fan, too.
Whether you follow tennis or not, there’s nothing better than the allure that is Wimbledon. Every summer, celebrities and royalty step out in their most fashionable looks to sit courtside while they turn their heads back and forth (IYKYK) to see who’s going to take home the match. But, in the packed stands with famous faces, Kate Middleton’s sighting over the weekend is the one I can’t stop fawning over.
The Princess of Wales made a rare public appearance on July 14 alongside daughter Princess Charlotte, and as is always the case with Middleton’s Wimbeldon looks, she aced it (wink, wink). Princess Kate went with a simple but enchanting outfit that consisted of a purple midi from Safiyaa that wasn’t your average midi dress. The A-line dress featured a flattering front-twist bodice as well as structured, puff-shoulder sleeves. The stunning lilac hue was fresh and fun, but still versatile and elegant. An ace!
The finishing touches included black square-frame sunnies, which she didn’t wear the entire time, and beige, slingback pumps that she did wear the entire time. Walking on grass might not have been the easiest in the mid-height pumps, but alas, Princess Kate prevailed, proving kitten-heel slingbacks are summer 2024’s ‘It’ shoe that show zero signs of fading. In fact, I, like Middleton, wore said shoes to my outdoor wedding in Italy, and I, too, prevailed in walking down the aisle and more.

Middleton always wears the best shoes, but this particular pair of tan slingbacks takes the cake—for several reasons. First, the design was *chef’s kiss,* with a patent pointed toe, humble 3-inch heel kitten heel, and a versatile, leg-lengthening hue; but second is the fact that the kitten heel slingback is a trending shoe so many celebrities, like Julia Roberts and Katie Holmes, royals like Queen Letizia of Spain, and fashion editors, like myself, have given their stamp of approval to—and for good reason.
The kitten heel slingback typically boasts a low, easy-to-walk-in heel that’s ideal for everyday wear—or weddings, ahem—while the slingback strap that wraps around your heels ensures the shoe stays put all day long. Genius! I danced the night away in these, did a few spins and kicks, and they stayed put the entire time. So, it’s no wonder so many people are head over (kitten) heels. Prepare to see a lot more slingbacks these next few months. Everyone’s making the most of toe’s out —err, heels out—shoe weather (okay, I’m done with the puns!)
