My skin care routine includes retinols and vitamin C, which means I can’t mess around about sun protection. Kate Somerville’s 2-in-1 setting spray is the perfect product. Its SPF 50 not only offers broad spectrum sun protection, but it’s formulated with hydrating hyaluronic acid, and comes out in a very fine mist that looks invisible on top of makeup. After applying makeup, I spray this in a continuous motion all over my face, neck, and chest. My makeup lasts through 90-degree, 75 percent humidity days and I’m never the slightest bit sunburnt. My only issue is that I wish there was a travel-size option I could keep in my purse since the bottle is large and clunky. — Tamim Alnuweiri, Senior Beauty Commerce Writer

This year's summer scents are all about solar notes, bright florals, sour citrus, and lactonic finishes. These are the 11 options that fragrance experts will be reaching for.

I don’t wear foundation anymore—especially during the summer. I can’t be bothered with the total greaseball my skin becomes at the end of the day, which is why I’m a skin tint loyalist now. Supergoop’s SPF skin tint has been my go-to this summer; not only does it look like I’m wearing foundation but it also stays completely matte even on 90-degree days. It’s budge-proof and helps my under-eye corrector last through the day, too. If you chose to wear it under foundation as a primer, I’d imagine it’d hold up well. — Christina Butan, Senior Commerce Editor

I’d assumed instant glass skin was a myth until I tried this illuminating, plumping primer. In addition to prolonging makeup wear time (even in the face of sweaty commutes), it gives my dry skin a dewy radiance that it typically lacks. And, unlike many heavier primers, Nars’s silicone-free formula is non-comedogenic and wears weightlessly, making it ideal for balmy weather. — Sophie Wirt, Commerce Writer

A hydrating primer might sound counterintuitive to use during hot summer months, but I find that it keeps my combination skin balanced throughout the day. This Smashbox Primer gives my skin the right amount of hydration throughout the day so that my makeup doesn’t separate, crack, or become cakey—it just stays put. I don’t need to touch up or blot my skin throughout the day when I use this. — Alyssa Morin, Senior Commerce Editor

As someone who likes a dewy finish, I haven’t had a face powder in my regular rotation in a minute. But after one too many sweaty commutes, in which the hot subway air seemed to melt my makeup off my face, I knew it was time for a setting powder. This option from E.L.F. helps keep me glowy, not sweaty or greasy. I love that it blurs out my pores and other imperfections without any added pigment. — Emily Kelleher, Evergreen and Special Projects Editor
