"I'm no Blake Lively."
Britney Spears is recreating one of her most iconic fashion moments. Just days after Blake Lively revived her 2002 Versace gown on the red carpet at the It Ends With Us premiere in New York City on Tuesday, the pop star wore an “updated” version of the rainbow butterfly dress in response to Lively’s look.
In a video shared to Instagram, Spears danced around to "Your Love" by The Outfield while wearing a glittering pink-and-blue minidress similar to the original gown. The new design featured a few on-trend tweaks—including side cutouts, a thigh-high slit, and crisscrossing straps—and Spears accessorized with nude pumps and diamond jewelry.
"Updated version of my 2002 Versace dress 👗," Spears captioned her post, before sweetly acknowledging Lively's stylish tribute. "I'm no @blakelively but I like it … show my legs 💅🏻👗🌷🌷 !!!"
Lively, for her part, wore the vintage gown, which Spears first debuted the Versace spring 2003 fashion show in Milan, with a pair of holographic heels, a smattering of sparkly rings on each hand, and her long blonde curls swept to the side.
Ahead of the event, Lively gave a shoutout to Spears on her Instagram Story and posted a photo of the singer wearing the Versace dress over 20 years ago. "Today's mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories," she wrote with Spears's song "Everytime" as background music. "Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories."
