Sartorial symbolism at its best.
With just 9 days left until the 2024 Presidential Election, Michelle Obama is ready for a fight—at least, judging by her latest look on the campaign trail. On Saturday, the former First Lady attended a rally in support of the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the swing state of Michigan while seemingly sending the opposing party a subliminal message with her outfit.
Looking fierce in a black and brown leopard print pantsuit from Theory, Obama wore a single-breasted blazer with sharp shoulders and coordinating slim-fit trousers. She layered a black top underneath and accessorized with a pair of black round-toe pumps. Obama continued the symbolism with touches of blue (the color of the Democratic Party)—including a set of blue stones that embellished her gold hoop earrings and a bold blue manicure.
Her hair was worn in braids and pulled back into a low-slung ponytail, and she finished off her glam with a nude glossy lip and shimmering eyeshadow.
At the event, Obama gave an emotional speech that ranged from reproductive rights to Donald Trump’s “mental decline,” before introducing Harris to the stage. “I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn,” she began her message.
"I hope that you will forgive me if I'm a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental decline, his history as a convicted felon, a known slum lord, a predator found liable for sexual abuse—all of this while we pick apart Kamala’s answers from interviews that he doesn't even have the courage to do, y’all," Obama continued, adding that she fears "too many people" are giving Trump "a pass" for his bad behavior.
She warned, "That's exactly how he got elected the first time."
