The days of mistaking Reese Witherspoon and her mini-me daughter Ava Phillippe may be over. Yesterday, Ava shared an Instagram Post that showed a brand-new brunette makeover courtesy of colorist Tucker Goodwine. In the shot, Ava poses in the sunshine against a backdrop of deep-green leaves with her new color on display and a flippy, layered haircut. She wore a short, spaghetti-strap dress with a red-and-pink floral pattern and L.A.’s go-to accessory: tiny oval sunglasses that looked like they were plucked from a movie poster.
“Time to see how the other half lives,” she captioned the shot before adding a dancing-girl emoji. Goodwine also posted a look at the transformation on his feed, showing a before-and-after that included Ava’s previous blonde shade and the updated chocolatey brown. In those shots, Ava poses in a cropped ribbed tank with the word “Lover” printed across her chest in an Old English gothic-style font.
Speaking to People ahead of her new campaign for Vince Camuto’s new Wonderbloom fragrance (she’s the face of the perfume), Ava said that experimenting with different hair colors is just one way she has fun with her look. In the past, she’s had pink hair and even opened up about DIYing her color without telling her famous parents.
"I love just experimenting with what makes me feel good and what makes me feel like I’m having fun with my appearance and nobody else has to get it," she said. "Just, this is what I want to do with myself. And it’s just hair. It grows back."
"I did dye my own hair with some hair dye that I got at the drugstore, and I was 14," she added. "I did it in my bathroom in the middle of the night and I didn’t tell my parents, which that was a funny thing to wake up to for them."
In a TikTok clip that she shared last month, Ava said that there was one color that she just doesn’t vibe with—and unfortunately, it’s the one she was born with.
"Sorry it just doesn't hit the same!!" she captioned the post.
