Kelly Ripa compared it to a chinchilla.
It’s not just Hollywood’s leading ladies that undergo major hair transformations—it’s never a bad time for a little change. Today, Mark Consuelos debuted a fresh buzzcut on Live With Kelly and Mark, noting that it’s a regular habit and that he’d been thinking about going short for a few weeks now.
"Do not adjust your TV screens—yes, I got my haircut," Consuelos shared on today's episode. "It’s like a chinchilla!"
"I’ve never rubbed an actual chinchilla but I suspect this is what it feels like," Ripa said while rubbing her husband's head. "We should give everyone in the audience an opportunity…Look at how I take it all for granted, don’t I? I take it all for granted!"
Ripa explained that Consuelos "didn't have a choice" and "had to do it." Why, exactly? For work, of course.
"Yeah, I got a TV job," Consuelos added. "A role in a pilot, and they said, ‘Can you cut it short?’ And I said, ‘How short? […] Military?’ And they said, ‘Military.’"
While there aren't any details on the role just yet, Ripa did her best to get any and all information out of him and share it with viewers. Unfortunately, he wasn't being very revealing about it.
"I’ve been trying to get intel out of him," Ripa said. "And this is why I think we’ve been married so long, you’re so cagey about the details and that I'm not unconvinced that you are also, like your parents, in the CIA."
Over the weekend, Consuelos showed off the fresh cut on Instagram (and so did Ripa). The two spent some quality time together in Switzerland, minus some hair. The snapshots they shared included Consuelos steering a boat and the couple taking in the sights.
During their chat, Consuelos shared that he likes to go short "every couple of years" and it's a habit that Ripa should be used to by now, as they've been together for 28 years. Ripa went on to say that she had urged him to keep his hair longer, but that the new gig got in the way.
