Putting the glam in Glastonbury.
Dua Lipa took the stage at Glastonbury this year (and took in other performances as a spectator alongside her beau, Callum Turner), marking a major milestone in her career and, in the process, serving up some iconic looks. One white ‘fit in particular made fans do a double-take during her set at the Pyramid Stage, because while it looked like a rhinestone-covered white skirt at first, a closer look revealed it to be a T-shirt covered in blingy sparkles and fashioned into a micro-mini.
The Acne Studios outfit included a matching skirt that had the same draped fabric over a black bra and she finished the ensemble with an embellished belt and black fishnets. Lipa shared a peek at the look on her Instagram feed, writing, “We sang, we danced, we weeeeeeped and then we partied all night long!!! still on a cloud ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️ @glastofest forever 🔐🔺”
The superstar's set included hits like "One Kiss" and "Levitating," but also had a few tracks from her new album, Radical Optimism, like "Houdini" and "Training Season."
Speaking to Vogue, Lipa’s stylist, Jahleel Weaver, explained that he was inspired by the “undone” glam at Glastonbury, which is marked by boho looks from regulars like Kate Moss.
“This isn’t Coachella! But Dua Lipa is still one of the biggest pop stars in the world and so we had to make sure the looks felt just as ‘stage appropriate’. It was easy to pull off because she’s so open, so fun, and will try anything," he said.
“So, this is technically the ‘finale’ look. The challenge here was to encapsulate everything we had done throughout the previous acts into one show-stopping outfit," he said of the white look specifically. "It’s an Acne Studios design with all the core elements we had established (T-shirts, leathers, crystals) that was, again, made to feel like Dua had just tied a T-shirt around the waist and tucked a tank top into her bra. I will always incorporate the designer’s references, so I know the look is within their wheelhouse. This one’s hard to explain but trust me…it’s so cool.”
