BRB, buying some heeled clogs.
I just got back from Italy, where the temps were hot and the fashion even, well, hotter. I spent a good chunk of my time at the beach, where I sunbathed in a bikini and drank Aperol spritzes, as well as in the city, where I relied on linen pants and breathable tops to stay cool. But had I seen Daisy Edgar-Jones’s outfit a few weeks earlier, I probably would have spent my entire Italian vacation in her look. Thankfully summer isn’t over yet, and I still have a couple months to replicate the easy, breezy, subtly sexy two-piece ensemble.
The actress has been busy bopping around New York City, making press stops for her new movie Twisters that’s officially out July 19 (today, so catch me in the theater this weekend!) And for said outings, Edgar-Jones has proven she’s a fashion force, with looks ranging from sexy and sheer to early aughts-inspired. The one I’m about to wax poetic about hits on the latter. It has ruffles! It has clogs!

Most recently, Edgar-Jones stepped out in the only summer look I want to wear: a beige minidress with frilly, fun ruffles, ultra-thin spaghetti straps, and a super short hemline that hit mid-tight. The dress was ethereal but simultaneously effortless, making it a no-brainer, throw-on-and-go piece you’ll actually want to wear in the most humid summer days and still look put together.
The Twisters star rounded out the look with an unexpected pair of shoes. No, she didn’t pair her ruffle mini with flip-flops—though that would have been 2000s fashion to a T—nor did she opt for sneakers (a city-girl favorite!) or sandals. Instead, she went with a polarizIng albeit really good-looking pair of clog heels. Hers featured a brown leather front, a wood heel that’s different from most clog soles I’ve seen, plus studded detailing that gave the footwear some edge. And to no surprise, I now am running to grab heeled clogs.
The girly minidress looks so good paired with chunky clogs, and that’s probably also because Edgar-Jones’s hits on the Wrong Shoe Theory, a.k.a., wearing the “wrong” shoes with an outfit, which actually makes the ‘fit more visually interesting.
All that to say, minidresses and clogs are set to be my go-to combo for the rest of the summer. Will you join in?
