It's a love-it-or-hate-it swimsuit trend.
When Kendall Jenner endorses a trend, you know it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a full-blown mainstream fad. Most recently, Jenner signed off on one of the most controversial swimsuit styles: the mismatched two-piece.
On Monday, the model shared the a carousel on Instagram in which she wore the tiniest red string bikini top with mismatching black bottoms that featured tiny metal details on the hips. In the first slide, Jenner sits on the stairs of a boat, leaning on the deck with her bottoms barely visible. The 818 founder paired her spicy top with a coordinating crimson-colored Ralph Lauren baseball cap from Rebalance Vintage, gold hoop earrings, and a matching dainty bracelet.
In the next picture, Jenner can be seen sipping an iced beverage that matches her red top, hat, and manicure. In the final photo, Jenner looks off into the distance with a soft smile on her face as she shows off her natural dewy and sun-kissed skin.
Jenner alluded to her athletic side in her caption: "Wake surfer girl," she wrote, presumably referring to the water sports that took place the day these photos were snapped.
It’s no secret that Jenner loves spending time on the water. Last month, the reality star shared a roundup of photos taken in Mallorca, Spain, including glamorous selfie on boat, in which she wears a tiny bikini and chic headscarf. And earlier in the summer, the fashion muse posted another photo dump posing on the deck of a massive yacht while wearing an octopus-style maxidress.
Like many celebs, Jenner meticulously crafts her social media feed to show precisely what she wants the world to see. However, the model explains that it's not for aesthetic purposes.
“Social media entails much more than just exposing certain things for the whole world to see,” she told Vogue France in a new interview. “It also means exposing your energy. I take great care to protect my energy and preserve my mental health.”
