From Doechii to Chappell Roan, stars pushed the boundaries of creativity.
Year after year, the Grammy Awards red carpet serves as a playground for beauty looks that push the boundaries of creativity. But this year, it soared to new heights—and it was no surprise, given what an electrifying year in pop music it’s been.
Leave it to camp queen Chappell Roan to steal the show. Nominated for six awards, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year, the star matched the theatrics of her vintage Jean Paul Gaultier gown with full-tilt fantasy makeup: Razor-thin brows, a porcelain doll complexion, and deep burgundy lips. Her fellow top nominees also served up their own show-stopping moments, with Charli XCX sporting Brat-approved winged eyeliner, Doechii’s mesmerizing braided finger waves, and Sabrina Carpenter wearing a one-night-only bob, winking at a retro Shirley MaClaine moment in ’60s classic What a Way to Go.
Below, see all the best beauty looks of the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Charli XCX
According to Charli XCX, the ultimate Brat makeup combo is smoked-out winged liner paired with a cool nude pout, painted on with Spike Valentino Buttery Matte Lip Color in 123R Spike A Pose.
Chappell Roan
The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer was a painting that came to life above her vintage Jean Paul Gaultier gown. Her drawn-on brows and paled-out complexion set the stage for painterly blush, purple-draped eyes, and deep burgundy lips.
Doechii
Not just a rising rap icon but a beauty one as well, Doechii dazzled with sculpted braided finger waves and silver smoky eyes, the latter complementing her Thom Browne look.
Sabrina Carpenter
It’s true: Carpenter loves a reference, and for her big night, the six-time nominee channeled Shirley MacClaine in What a Way to Go in a backless dress and with her bombshell blonde lengths deftly crafted into a faux bob.
St. Vincent
Tonight, the art-rock guitarist channeled Christy Turlington in more ways than one. She wore an Armani suit inspired by an archival look worn by the ’90s supermodel with an era-appropriate moody, monochrome makeup moment to match.
Gracie Abrams
The “That’s So True” singer punched up her ethereal ivory look with a sultry burgundy smoky eye, finished with eyeliner smudged along the waterlines.
Clairo
“The overall vibe for Clairo’s look was a touch of Bettie Page, but keeping it new and minimal with subtle, luminous textures and a winged eye that is more 90-degree angle than a classic retro wing might be,” said her makeup artist Amber Dreadon, who used Ilia’s Clean Line Liquid Liner to execute the look.
Willow Smith
As usual, Willow Smith oozed cool. Her graphic, center-parted Afro beautifully framed her glowing skin, shimmering lids, and ombré rust red lip.
Cardi B
Giving Old Hollywood bombshell, Cardi B matched her perfectly curled red-violet bob with complementary purple talons.
Olivia Rodrigo
Ever sleek and chic, Rodrigo wore her signature tumble of chestnut waves with velvety skin, kitten-flick eyeliner, and a pinky-brown pout.
Miley Cyrus
A true hair chameleon, Cyrus debuted a fresh jellyfish haircut with ultra-blunt bangs and layers. Washes of peach, golden eyeshadow, and graphic cat eyes completed the look.
Coco Jones
A nod to her crimson gown, the R&B star punctuated her waist-grazing waves with fiery red streaks. Her glossy pink lip combo? Chanel Le Crayon Lèvres Longwear Lip Pencil in Brun Foncé and Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Liquid Lip Colour in Light Mauve.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga, whose next album, Mayhem, arrives next month, is ushering in a new Gothic era with her blunt raven hair. Pale skin, bleached brows, and a blurred pink lip finished the look.
Kehlani
Kehlani took a classic combo—glossy, side-swept waves and crisp winged eyeliner—and made it feel fresh and modern with a bold dark lip liner and clear gloss.
