The pop girlies have spoken—denim corsets are in.
Ashley Park is the resident pop star in the Emily in Paris universe—and here in the real world, it seems she is taking some style inspiration from one of the biggest pop stars around. Yes, Park just recreated a Taylor Swift look—while adding her own spin, naturally.
Stepping out in New York City ahead of an appearance on Good Morning America, Park rocked a daring triple denim Canadian tuxedo look. The centerpiece of the look was the Medusa ’95 Denim Corset Top by Versace—the very same top worn by Swift just two weeks ago when she attended the first game of the NFL season. While Swift wore the denim corset with a pair of itty bitty denim shorts and ultra high maroon boots, Park went for a more demure denim look, pairing the top with the matching denim pieces from Versace: the Medusa ’95 Boyfriend Jeans and the Oversized Tailored Denim Blazer. She completed her look with a pair silver platform heels and a black handbag, along with silver hoops and a silver pendant necklace.
Denim has been having something of an extended moment this year, with denim jeans, denim skirts, denim shirts, and denim dresses all having their moment in the spotlight. Now, Park and Swift have added denim corsets to the list.
Park’s triple denim look is only the latest playful fashion moment from the actor during her Emily in Paris press tour. Last week, for instance, she went for a pair of teeny tiny shorts, a matching blazer, and a pair of sky high gold platforms.
Park has spent much of the past year recovering from a health scare after developing septic shock during a vacation in the Maldives with her boyfriend, Paul Forman (who incidentally plays her on-screen boyfriend, too). In fact, she was a month late to start filming season 4 of Emily in Paris. During her appearance on Good Morning America, she said, “It’s wild to watch it back and know what I was going through, but I think sometimes the most challenging times in your life when you persevere through it become the most rewarding.”
Park’s appearance comes just one day after the announcement that Emily in Paris will be returning for a fifth season. As Park told People, she has high hopes for her character, Mindy. For one thing, she hopes she ends up “with the person who makes her feel comfortable.” Plus, with Emily moving from Paris to Rome, Park said, “I’m happy if at least her and Mindy stay friends.”
