It boosts blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
From Portofino to Côte d’Azur, Dior spas have a way of springing up in the most dreamy destinations. This summer is no exception, and in celebration of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Fall 2024 Dioriviera capsule collection, the French house has taken up residence at The Little Nell in Aspen.
I joined Dior for a wellness retreat centered on all the iconic Colorado mountain town has to offer in the summertime. Think mountaintop pilates and soaring hikes that put your back in touch with nature in feel-good, mind-clearing, and should-I-pack-up-and-leave-city-life-forever fashion. Naturally, the spa is a gorgeous complement to all the outdoor activities and a true respite for unwinding. On offer are an array of tailored facial and muscle-melting body treatments, with a reception lounge and treatment rooms bedecked in Dior’s gorgeous teal Toile de Jouy Soleil print (so you’re lying on the most glamorous facial table humanly possible).
After cross-country travel, lack of sleep, and one too many glasses of wine in the alpine altitude, my tired complexion needed a true bounce back. Enter the Kobi-Dior facial. It’s an hour-long anti-aging treatment designed for hydration and sculpting inspired by Japanese Kobido massage. The ancient technique harnesses the powers of percussive-style tapping and kneading to boost blood flow and lymphatic drainage for a more lifted and rejuvenated complexion. Check and check!
After thoroughly cleansing my skin, the esthetician began administering a series of different Kobido-style upward strokes to release muscle tension, drain fluid and puffiness, and lift the contours of the face. It instantly excavated my cheekbones, which had been M.I.A. following weeks of water retention, and generally, my face felt like it had just done a Vinyasa yoga class. So satisfying!
Next, a lineup of luxe Dior skin-care offerings targeted my concerns–dryness and congested pores–across my face and décolletage (which always needs a little extra TLC in summer). Towards the end of the treatment, I was introduced to my new favorite skin tool: The Dior Prestige Le Pétale, a gold metal massage tool featuring ceramic micro-pearls that help whatever serum–in my case, it was the Dior Prestige Le Nectar Premier face and neck serum–you apply it to sink right in. It feels so soothing on the skin, and the sound of the pearls across the skin is so ASMR-y.
Over a week later, my face still feels the fruits of the hard-working Kobi-Dior with more luminous skin and sculpted definition. It was a welcome reminder of what a thorough facial massage can do in the face of travel, especially if your journey brings you 8,000 feet above sea level.
