Statement shoes are always my answer to making a boring outfit interesting—it’s a high-impact, low-effort hack I swear by, and also one celebrities reach for constantly. In fact, there’s one trend, in particular, stars keep coming back to—and Martha Stewart just proved it can be incredibly practical, too.
Metallic shoes have been trending since last year, when A-listers like Stewart started replacing their black heels with mirror-like pumps. This summer took a more everyday turn when Jane Fonda and Katie Holmes slipped into silver Mary Janes, but Stewart just made the trend even more wearable when with her shining golden sneakers at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The shoes brought the perfect pop of color for her all-white look.
Stewart’s metallic sneakers are arguably the comfiest way to elevate an everyday look—from jeans and tees to loose maxi dresses—so I found 10 shiny kicks to help you get her look, starting at $32.

Get Stewart’s Olympic style with these champagne gold sneakers from Naturalizer. This leather style is designed with a comfortable, wedge platform, giving the shoes a soft, everyday look. Shoppers at Naturalizer love how the shoe can make even their most “casual summer outfits [look] elevated,” while also feeling great on their feet, with some even noting that the sneakers are immediately comfortable out of the box.
J.Crew Metallic Field Sneakers
Orig. $118 $80 at Jcrew.com
If you prefer silver, grab these low-profile sneakers from J.Crew while they’re on sale for $80. Their streamlined design and silver color—which is so shiny, it’s almost reflective—give this style a really cool, modern feel. They’re “cute and functional,” said one fan, explaining that they’ve worn the “chic” option to work, events where they knew they’d be standing for long periods of time, and even on walks.
Samba OG Sneakers
$100 at Adidas.com
While gold and silver might be the most conventional of the metallic family, they aren’t your only options. So if you’re someone who craves a little more color, consider grabbing Adidas’ famous Samba sneakers in this metallic seafoam green. While I know that might sound like a lot, the wash of color is so subtle, the shoes almost have an opal-like quality to them, giving the trending cool-girl shoes a really special feel.
Vince Camuto Jenlie Platform Sneakers
Orig. $99 $59 at Nordstrom
You can also approach the metallic trend with a little more subtly, opting for small touches here and there—and these on-sale sneakers from Vince Camuto do that perfectly. The shoes are available in both white and cream and feature silver and/or gold details at the heel and toe. It’s a small but effective pop of color that makes the classic sneakers feel a touch chicer than your typical all-white pair but still incredibly easy to style.
Metallic footwear has been trending, but we might have finally arrived at the most practical version of it. Below, shop more shining sneakers inspired by Stewart’s pair.
