Almost two decades after its initial airing, I’m finally watching The Rachel Zoe Project (thank you, Peacock) and realizing what an icon Demi Moore was (forgive me, I was in middle school at the time). Practically every other episode revolves around her Oscars gowns, magazine covers, and general stardom. She was that girl, and she still is.
For me, Moore is one of this year’s top fashion girls. She’s perfected red carpet glam—I’ll forever be thinking about her Met Gala look—and offers casual-chic style inspo every time she leaves the home; of course, this week was no exception.
Leaving dinner in Los Angeles, the actress could be seen wearing an oversized gray suit with a simple blue button-down underneath. The blazer and trousers were ridiculously big, but—to my surprise—the shapeless silhouette felt both modern and luxurious. And, making the already good outfit feel that much cooler, Moore finished the look with a pair of classic white sneakers.

Decade after decade, the shoes have maintained their status as a “closet essential,” and sure, it’s because they’re comfortable, but it’s also because they look good with almost anything. Moore reached for a pair that looked as rich as her suit. The white shoes featured a flat sole, streamlined silhouette, and a few creamy details; they looked so chic, I became convinced it might be time to officially move away from chunky, grandpa-esque sneakers. But that wasn’t the only item her look convinced me to ditch; her super wide-leg trousers might make me stop reaching for jeans altogether.
Despite the dressed up elements of her trousers—namely those pleats and that lustrous gray finish—they felt like something you could wear every day because of their oversized silhouette. Moore’s exact look would be a compliment-magnet at the office while a basic white T-shirt and sneakers give the pants a casual, cool-girl feel for day-to-day wear.
