Trust me, I’m not giving this one up.
When I think of a cool mom, the first person that comes to mind is, well, my mom (of course!!!). But then second is none other than Freaky Friday queen Jamie Lee Curtis, riding on a motorcycle with heartthrob Chad Michael Murray wearing the coolest non-mom outfit ever. Ahh, the nostalgia. And, with a second installment in the making, you can only guess how excited I am (hint: very) for Curtis’s return as teen-turned-mom-turned-teen.
The actress was recently spotted on a red carpet, and no it wasn’t for Freaky Friday 2—fingers crossed it’ll be released soon. However, the actress still showed up dressed to the nines in a #fire ‘fit that consisted of a red-hot suit set, including subtly flared trousers and a matching red top and blazer. She finished off the look with red-tinted sunglasses (so cool!), and black, pointed-toe leather heels, a.k.a., the shoes everyone needs. TL;DR? Black heels are my desert island product (I know, I know, but hey, girl’s gotta have heels).

I say desert island because I think it emphasizes the importance of a good black heel, and the fact that if I had to wipe out my entire shoe closet—which I sometimes think about, as it’s currently overflowing—all I would keep are my black pumps. They’re timeless, they’re versatile, they’re easy to wear (even easier to style), and honestly, that’s everything a good shoe should be. Easy, peasy, beautiful! Curtis proved this when she paired her black pumps with a crimson suit. They completed it, without taking away from it; a win-win.
I’ve worn my black pumps with everything from trousers to denim midi skirts to shorts—and whenever I’m not sure what footwear to go with, or don’t feel like following the Wrong Shoe Theory (IYKYK), I’ll reach for my trusty black heels. They’re like that best friend you can always rely on, and that’s why they simply will never be replaced.
