Days after teasing a dramatic transformation on social media, Lily Collins finally unveiled her big chop on the red carpet—and it’s giving major summer haircut inspiration. The Emily in Paris star swapped out her long, layered balayage locks for a sleek, blunt bob in a dark hue as she attended the world premiere of her upcoming film MaXXXine on Monday, June 24. Collins paired the new chin-length look with a powder blue Schiaparelli suit as she posed at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles with her co-stars.
Collins wore her hair styled in a deep side part with the ends tucked inwards. Her sweeping curled side bangs framed her face, which had been given the French girl treatment with barely-there makeup. The 35-year-old star’s natural features were highlighted with soap brows, a matte pink lipstick, and a dusting of rose blush.
While Collins went subtle with her beauty look, her premiere outfit and jewelry was anything but. The actress leaned into the Schiaparelli’s signature campy aesthetic in baby blue blazer and matching sarong skirt from the fashion house's Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The plunging blazer was worn open with nothing underneath except for an elaborate oversized necklace, which featured strategically-placed bedazzled eyes and horizontal feather-like details connected by a gold chain. A pair of strappy metallic silver heels completed her head-turning look.
Collins is no stranger to dramatic hair makeovers–her 2015 pixie haircut and the “jellyfish” style she rocked last February are just a few of the many examples–so it’s not surprise that the actress decided to take a bold risk when sitting down in her stylist’s chair.
The actress teased the change with an Instagram post on Friday of her old ‘do with the caption, “Good(bye) hair day…” Vogue also shared some behind-the-scenes photos of her transformation.
“I hadn’t seen Lily for a while and when she sat down in the chair she said, ‘What’s our next look?’” her longtime hairstylist Gregory Russell told the publication. They decided to take her color a shade darker, and chop her hair into a dramatic shoulder-length bob just in time for the start of summer. Collins took the first swipe at the cut, using the scissors to cut off most of her length, and then Russell took over and perfected the new look.
