The Princess of Wales wore a similar style over and over again.

Proving that Princess Diana’s style really is forever, Suki Waterhouse wore something akin to one of Lady Di’s most memorable looks. In a TikTok video that she posted last week, the actress, mother, and musician wore a vintage dress by Zandra Rhodes. In the clip, she explained that it was a cream-colored version of Diana’s famous wisteria-hued dress, which made its debut during a 1986 trip to Japan.

In her TikTok, Waterhouse used audio from The Devil Wears Prada, but she posted text alongside the audio that replaced Emily Blunt's famous line about Chanel boots with "The Zandra Rhodes dress that Diana wore to dinner in Kyoto? Yeah…I am." She added a pair of tan heels to her outfit and twirled and danced as she showed off the dress's drop waist and lacy details.

"It’s cream version but still princess," she captioned the post.

The Zandra Rhodes brand confirmed that Waterhouse’s dress was the real deal. In an Instagram post, the label shared that it was the “Buttons and Bows” dress from 1986.

According to People, Diana’s dress was a custom creation, as it was initially designed to be black and pink. Instead, Rhodes suggested the now-famous purply-pink and Diana wore it to a Torvill and Dean party in 1985, the trip to Japan a year later, and again in 1987 for an event with the London City Ballet. The zigzag details, sheer overlay, and striking color made it instantly recognizable every time she re-wore it and became a favorite among the legion of fans that followed her fashion moves.

Diana’s dress went up for auction at Christie’s of New York before her death in 1997 and was purchased in 2011 by the Historic Royal Palaces for nearly $32,000. It went on display during Buckingham Palace’s Fashion Rules exhibit back in 2016.
