Not all heroes wear capes.

It sounds like the beginnings of a medical drama, but according to Glamour Woman of the Year Brooke Shields, experiencing a “full-blown grand mal seizure” and waking up in the arms of Bradley Cooper was something that actually happened to her. In a profile with the publication celebrating her latest honor, Shields spoke about having a seizure and the confusion that ensued as she recovered with the help of a Hollywood leading man. She explained that it happened before her one-woman cabaret show in New York City, Previously Owned

“Nobody knows about it,” Shields revealed. “I was preparing for the show, and I was drinking so much water, and I didn't know I was low in sodium. I was waiting for an Uber. I get down to the bottom of the steps, and I start evidently looking weird, and [the people I was with] were like, ‘Are you OK?’”

She went on to say that she was walking around for “no reason at all” and wondering, “Why am I out here?” She went on to say, “Then, I walk into the restaurant L'Artusi, and I go to the sommelier who had just taken an hour to watch my run-through.”

“Then my hands drop to my side and I go headfirst into the wall,” Shields continued, saying that she was "frothing at the mouth, totally blue, trying to swallow my tongue."

“The next thing I remember, I'm being loaded into an ambulance. I have oxygen on,” she said before revealing the most enigmatic mic drop. “And Bradley fucking Cooper is sitting next to me holding my hand.”

Apparently, the sommelier noticed that something wasn't right and tried to reach Shields's husband, Chris Henchy, but couldn't. So, through a string of assistants, he managed to reach Cooper.

“I thought to myself, This is what death must be like. You wake up and Bradley Cooper's going, 'I'm going to go to the hospital with you, Brooke,' and he's holding my hand," Shields shared. "And I'm looking at my hand, I'm looking at Bradley Cooper's hand in my hand, and I'm like, ‘This is odd and surreal.’”

Shields explained that she had just consumed too much water while prepping for her big debut and her body was low in sodium.

"I flooded my system, and I drowned myself. And if you don't have enough sodium in your blood or urine or your body, you can have a seizure,” she said before sharing her doctor's surprising prescription: “Eat potato chips every day.”
