The French label Nina Ricci presents “Vénus” – a women’s fragrance that highlights magnolia in a floral chypre composition.

A myth is born… With Vénus de Nina Ricci, the House celebrates self-love and launches an essential message that speaks to an entire generation of women: an invitation to stop forgetting oneself, to think of oneself, to truly love oneself. And to shine more than ever.

Vénus – Nina Ricci

The fragrance journey of “Vénus” opens with a tangy mandarin note, which is given a floral freshness by delicate magnolia leaves. At the heart, the fragrance develops into a floral bouquet in which sensual accords of jasmine and magnolia merge. Creamy-sweet vanilla and white patchouli provide the final touch, creating a soft, enveloping depth.

The perfume is the joint work of perfumers Alexandra Monet, Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp.

From the first conversations with Harris Reed, Nina Ricci’s creative director, the magnolia was a given: “It is a jewel flower that we wanted to work like goldsmiths. We emphasized its lustrous facet to give Nina Ricci’s Venus the most stunning sillage there is.

The magnolia (genus Magnolia) is one of the oldest flowering plants in the world. With more than 350 species, which occur as shrubs or majestic trees, it is mainly native to the regions of East Asia and North America.

While it has been valued for its many properties in Asia for over 2000 years, the magnolia only found its way to Europe in the 18th century. In traditional Chinese medicine, the leaves, flowers and bark are used for their healing properties. The magnolia also plays a special role in Buddhism: its flowers are considered a symbol of purity and constancy – one reason why its elegant blossoms often adorn the surroundings of Buddhist temples.

In perfumery, the magnolia is particularly popular for its multifaceted fragrance profile. Its blend of creamy, floral, citrusy and slightly honeyed nuances lends fragrance creations an elegant, floral freshness that can be both light and sensual.

The new fragrance is available in bottle sizes of 30, 50 and 80 ml.
