One phrase that comes to mind when I think of Cher is, well, larger than life. That voice! That career—a six-decades-long jaunt in the industry. Still, she manages to have a chokehold on me—there are many days every single month when I simply need to listen to “Believe” to get going. All that said, however, it should come as no surprise the larger-than-life singer just stepped out in a larger-than-life winter-perfect ensemble that has my full attention right now. 

Cher was photographed arriving on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Los Angeles, but TBH, her all-black outfit felt very East Coast New Yorker come wintertime. Her Big Apple-esque ensemble consisted of ridiculously big black trousers that sat high on the waist. Big, baggy denim has seen an uptick in interest, but don’t forget: big, baggy trousers came first. Cher’s bottoms prove that massively oversized staples are here to stay for 2025. 

She styled the pants with a black top, which she tucked into her pants that were also secured with a black studded leather belt, an oversized black leather moto jacket, and last but not least, break-your-ankle platform heels that were made for stomping, literally.

The singer’s platform booties peeked through the wide-leg hem of her trousers, but honestly, they stole the show. The clunky silhouette is fitting for a powerhouse like her, but it’s also fitting for this time of year—especially in NYC. It makes for a durable, snow-and-sludge-friendly shoe that’s still stylish. We don’t always want to wear our classic snow boots, though sometimes needed, but platform boots á la Cher are the perfect middle ground.

The shoe style is obviously durable and stylish, but it’s also versatile, further adding to its appeal. It pairs well with wide-leg pants, denim of all sorts, skirts, dresses, and more. And, you can also pick and choose your level of daring when it comes to the footwear pick; opt for a high-power heel for a high-impact look or go for something more humble if you want to ensure easy walking.
