It makes my gams glisten, too.

The summer combination of heat, sweat, chafing, and shaving wreaks havoc on my skin in the form of ingrown hairs. Gross, I know, but it’s an unavoidable seasonal issue that I am at the mercy of. The preventative measure would be to stop shaving, but that will never happen, so I am constantly trying topical solutions. For the last few months, I haven’t dealt with any bulbous ingrown blemishes or welts because I’ve been using Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Glycolic Body Lotion.

In the winter, I typically have fewer ingrown hairs but my body care routine is a lot more extensive, as it involves a serum or two, followed by a lotion. In the summer, my social schedule is a time restraint and the sticky humidity makes it bothersome to layer multiple body products. A singular lotion that does all of the treating, exfoliating, and moisturizing I need in one go seems difficult to find, but Drunk Elephant taught me that it’s not impossible.

My skin is sensitive so I began using the T.L.C. Body Lotion every few days. When my skin did not have a tantrum, I began using it daily. I felt the hydrating properties from the first use—it absorbed within minutes and without a trace, save for my glistening gams. The exfoliating benefits became apparent during week two. Any area where a razor had touched my body was the same as where it hadn’t—my skin was smooth and bump-free.

French nails are equally classic and versatile, which makes them the perfect anchor for a refreshing spring manicure.

I picked this over the dozen other body lotions waiting to be tested because of the yin-yang (exfoliating and moisturizing) of the formula. On the moisturizing front, there’s marula oil and shea butter—an emollient and occlusive duo that the brand says “deeply moisturizes and provides barrier protection.” Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and niacinamide provide the serum-like benefits of this body lotion. AHAs are chemical exfoliants that slough off dead skin cells and decongest clogged skin. Niacinamide is a type of vitamin B that also smooths out uneven and bumpy skin texture, reduces the appearance of pores, and has anti-aging benefits that include increased firmness and lessened wrinkles.
