'I Am: Celine Dion' will give fans a glimpse into the legendary performer's ongoing battle with the rare neurological disorder.

After Celine Dion revealed that she was battling Stiff Person Syndrome, many fans worried about her health and well-being, and even more people wondered what the neurological disorder even entailed. Everyone will soon have a chance to see exactly what it is and how the Grammy-winning legend is handling her life away from the stage with the release of I Am: Celine Dion, a documentary that’ll offer insight into everything happening in Dion’s life as she continues to deal with Stiff Person Syndrome. Dion revealed her diagnosis back in December 2022 and since then, hasn’t made many appearances in public. Late last year, Dion’s sister Claudette shared an update, saying that the singer’s condition wasn’t improving.

“This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me,” Celine said in a statement released today per E! News. “The journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me.”

"As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, being able to see my fans," the statement continued. "During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis."

Céline Dion's Neurological Disease Has Gotten Worse

Amazon MGM Studios acquired I Am: Celine Dion, but the studio hasn't shared a release date just yet. E! notes that it is expected to showcase "Celine's creative process," all while "giving rare insight into her home life."

Claudette noted that Dion has lost control of some of her muscles, though she did not share any details about what sort of treatments her sister is undergoing.

“She doesn’t have control over her muscles,” Claudette previously told 7 Jours. “What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard.'”

In December 2022, however, Dion shared a positive message with her fans. In the wake of her diagnosis, she officially canceled her Courage World Tour, but she is working on healing herself and spending time with her sons, René-Charles, Nelson, and Eddy.

“And I have hope,” she said on Instagram, “that I am on the road to recovery.”
