It’s the perfect piece of clothing.
I’m loving this weather right now, but what I don’t love is the confusion it sometimes brings. Ugh. My husband and I wake up every morning, look at the temperature, and say, “Hmm…what should we wear?” It’s chilly in the AM, so much that you definitely need a jacket, but by mid-afternoon, it’s in the high 80s and you’d be fooled into thinking it’s summer. Spoiler: It’s not.
So, what’s one to do? Layering is a key dressing rule you simply must know how to do properly, and coming from Minnesota, I’m a master at it; I’ve learned that a few key staples are a must in one’s wardrobe, and style icon Zoe Saldaña just wore one of them.
The actress’ evening outfit featured an all-black look that’s pretty much my dream look for going out. She slipped into billowy, wide-leg satin trousers that, unlike regular trousers made from cotton or wool, look even more elegant thanks to their sheen and flow. Of course, now I also need silk trousers à la Saldaña, but what I need even more (and so do you!) is her itty-bitty black cardigan that’s a layering essential.

Saldaña is the latest to wear this fashion ‘It’ item, and it makes sense, as temperatures are just starting to drop. But, mark my words—you’re about to see a slew of celebs rock the cardigan-as-a-top trend as the weather consistently stays in the low 60s. The cozy-cute topper is an ideal layering piece, as you can wear it on its own as a shirt or toss it over your shoulders when it’s too warm to fully wear, but still chilly enough to keep those shoulders covered.
