Back to (almost) black.
Khloé Kardashian just turned 40—and she celebrated the milestone birthday with a hair transformation that saw her switching her red-turned-strawberry-blonde hair for a dark chocolate-brown brunette. Kardashian celebrated her big day on June 27 and commemorated the day with an Instagram roundup that showed off her deeper hair color. The new shade includes lighter-color highlights and maintains her usual super-long length.
On Snapchat, Kardashian offered a little more insight into the change, saying that it was simply too much work to maintain her lighter color.
"Okay, so I colored my hair again," she said. "My hair was red for, I don't know, like a month or so I would say…and as much as I love red, every single time you wash it, it comes out, it fades color. Towards the end, my hair was, like, honey, maybe strawberry, very light strawberry blonde."
"Anyways, more power to all the redheads out there, you guys are dedicated," she added. "I have been platinum blonde and that is so much easier for me than the red. The red was just too much maintenance."
"I love the chocolate vibes," she finished, before adding that her "hair will be so happy that I'm not bleaching it for a while."
Koko debuted a lighter, coppery-brown color back in May 2024, thanking her colorist Tracey Cunningham and extension expert Priscilla Valles.
In true over-the-top Kardashian fashion, Khloé has been sharing snapshots from her b-day bash, which included a pool party, more flower bouquets than anyone can count, and even a sweet message from Dolly Parton. The country music icon sent the reality star and mother a cheesecake and a pink 40th birthday cake, making for what was sure to be a very sweet day.
